Garrett County VINE Coverage
Maryland VINE is a free, confidential notification system that can be used anonymously for a status check. Official state material describes coverage for District and Circuit Courts, detention centers, the Division of Correction, parole, and probation. That cross-system reach makes it useful when a Garrett case moves from the county jail to a state source.
Documented events include release, escape, transfer, a parole or probation release, a supervising-agent change, and violation-hearing results. Each result must be tied to its named data source. A Garrett Detention Center release, a court hearing, and a parole change are separate events even when they concern the same person.
VINELink is not the Bureau of Prisons locator, ICE locator, or a federal court service. A federal detainee or prisoner requires the relevant federal channel. The service is also not a permanent release archive. Maryland’s public materials do not state the exact wording or retention span of a released result.
Search One Garrett VINELink Record
Begin at the Maryland VINELink portal or call 1-866-634-8463. Use an identifier supported by the live interface. A full name alone can produce a false match, so compare another fact before opening or registering against a record.
- Select Maryland and choose the custody, court, parole, or probation source that fits the case.
- Enter the requested name or offender identifier. Try supported legal-name variants only when another official record supports them.
- Compare the reporting agency, identity details, location, and status. Do not select a record based only on a shared name.
- Open the matching record and note the exact status wording, source, and check time. Do not substitute a generic label.
- If nothing matches, use the Sheriff log, sentencing court, DPP office, or custodian record instead of treating absence as proof of release.
The Garrett County released-inmate search explains those broader county, court, state, and federal paths. VINELink’s role here is narrower: check and follow one matching record.
The Maryland search interface is the source for the current live options.
The captured interface identifies the correct state portal; live labels and offered notification methods should be read again when registering.
Garrett VINELink Release Fields
A matching result can present status and location information supplied by a participating source. The exact fields can differ by source and event. Maryland documentation does not provide a sample that proves one universal released-status label, so the live record’s wording should be preserved.
| Field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Reporting source | Identifies the jail, correctional, court, parole, or probation data stream |
| Name or identifier | Supports identity matching; compare another identifier when available |
| Custody or case status | Read the live wording and its source, not an assumed phrase |
| Location | May identify the reporting facility or supervising source |
| Release information | Use only when the record displays it; confirm timing with the custodian |
| Notification option | Registers destinations offered for that record or case |
VINE data can lag an underlying event. A status also has limited scope. “Released” from Garrett criminal custody does not rule out transfer to another county, DPSCS, federal custody, or ICE. Ask the Garrett County Detention Center whether the event was community release or transfer when that distinction matters.
Register Garrett Release Notifications
Registration begins from the matching person or case. Add only the phone, email, text, TTY, or app destinations the live portal offers. Multiple destinations can reduce the risk of missing an alert, but they do not alter the reporting agency’s update time.
- Open the verified matching record and select its notification option.
- Add each offered destination and check it for typing errors.
- Create and save a four-digit PIN for telephone registration. Email registration does not require that PIN.
- When an automated call arrives, listen and enter the PIN followed by
#to acknowledge it. - If the PIN is lost, call the toll-free line and press 0 for the documented operator route.
If a call is not acknowledged, VINE may leave a message and continue attempts for at least 24 hours. Keep contact details current. Phone and web checks can also be made without registering.
Note: Registration may need to be repeated after a matter moves between courts, detention, state correction, parole, or probation records.
Confirm Garrett VINELink Alerts
A VINELink alert is evidence of a reported event, not a release certificate. Record the source, time, and wording. Then call the facility or agency that supplied the event if an exact release time, authority, destination, or safety plan depends on it. Garrett County Detention Center can be reached at 301-334-5055.
Maryland’s DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator has a different limit. It is a current-placement tool for covered people and expressly omits people no longer in custody. It is not a released-person history. BOP retains former federal records from its own scope, while ICE’s locator has a limited recent-release window. Use the system that owned the custody.
Direct confirmation also guards against identity errors, transfer confusion, and an alert tied to the wrong source record. Never infer a lawful release from a locator disappearance alone.
Garrett VINE System Changes
Garrett cases can cross several reporting layers. A person may begin in District Court and later have a Circuit Court matter. A local jail detainee may be committed to the Division of Correction. Someone released from state custody may then enter parole or mandatory supervision. Each move can create a different VINE record.
Re-register at the new source when Maryland guidance calls for it. Do not assume a notification attached to the old detention record follows the person into a court or supervision record. The reporting source line is therefore as important as the status line.
Garrett County Pre-Trial Services and Home Detention also differ from state parole. The local program and court order govern those conditions. A VINE detention release can occur while local supervision continues.
Maryland Release Notice Layers
VINE registration does not enroll a person in the separate DOC Victim Services written-notification program. The state lists that program at 1-866-606-7789. The Maryland Parole Commission also has a Victim Services notification route for eligible registered recipients.
These layers serve different records and eligibility rules. VINE is the broad phone, web, and app status tool. Written DOC notice is a separate program. Commission notice concerns parole proceedings and results within its authority. Registering in one should not be described as registration in all three.
A VINE alert also does not replace emergency planning or direct agency contact. If the concern is immediate, use the appropriate emergency or public-safety channel rather than waiting for a web update.
Call Garrett VINE Records
The Maryland VINE telephone channel at 1-866-634-8463 can be used when the web interface is unavailable or a caller prefers audio prompts. TTY service is listed at 1-866-847-1298. Search the same carefully matched person and listen for the reporting source, current status, and offered registration choices.
Telephone registration uses the four-digit PIN to acknowledge later automated calls. The PIN is not an offender number or a security code from the facility. Store it where the registered recipient can retrieve it. If it is lost, the official instructions direct callers to the toll-free line and option 0 for an operator.
Repeated calls after a missed alert do not mean a second release occurred. VINE may keep trying when the call has not been acknowledged. Confirm the event once, note the source, and contact that source for the detailed custody record.
Read Garrett VINE Events
Custody release, escape, and transfer are distinct events. Parole or probation release, transfer, agent change, and violation-hearing outcomes come from a supervision source. Court status and upcoming hearings belong to a case source. Read the event label with the agency name so one kind of change is not reported as another.
A transfer alert can be especially important in Garrett County. The detention center holds people awaiting transfer to another jurisdiction. Leaving the county building may lead to another jail, DPSCS, federal custody, or immigration custody. A VINE event should therefore be paired with a direct question: was this community release, or did another custodian take control?
Maryland guidance also notes that VINE does not promise notice for a transfer from one DOC institution to another. A person may remain in state custody even when a particular facility changes. Use the DPSCS current locator for covered placement information, not for release history.
Garrett VINELink No-Match Checks
A no-match should trigger source review, not a release claim. Check spelling, suffix, known identifier, and whether the record belongs to detention, court, parole, or probation. Then check the Sheriff Arrest Log and the correct court. For a state prisoner, remember that the DPSCS public locator removes people no longer in custody but also omits some people who remain held.
For a federal matter, move to the BOP locator or federal court docket. For an ICE transfer, use the ICE locator within its scope. USMS pretrial custody has no comparable public person locator. Staying with Maryland VINE after the case leaves its covered source can conceal the actual custody path.
Identity controls apply to every fallback. Use a second identifier and record the date and time of the check. Dynamic sources can change after an agency update, so saved notes should identify exactly what was observed rather than claiming a permanent status.
Call the source agency when two records could match. A mistaken notification registration can produce updates about the wrong person, while a missed alias can hide the correct Garrett record.
Compare the case number, offender identifier, birth details, and reporting location when the live record supplies them.
